Translating The Note's Snark on Haditha

"From now on, the Old Media and New Media will believe any and all reports about alleged American atrocities in Iraq, until and unless proven false." [link]

Implication 1: Gullible Bush-hating "liberal media" and bloggers will believe anything
Implication 2: Don't believe these reports, they'll be "proven false"

I'm moderate--even conservative--by nature. Thus, I fit in quite well in the mainstream of the Democratic party ... but that's been an increasingly uncomfortable place.

Why?

Because the freaks to my left keep being proven correct.

I thought that widespread disenfranchisement of blacks in Florida in 2002 was wild leftie whining ... until it was established as true.

I can't tell you how perfectly confident I was that Iraq had WMD. Until they were perfectly absent.

I imagined Bushco was trying to finesse concession from Iraq in the run-up to the war, and had no clue they'd decided to invade -long- before.

I thought reports of secrets CIA prisons were hogwash. Ditto for warrantless wiretaps. Ditto for--I shit you not--Homeland Security surveillance of an animal-rights protest involving a dozen vegans ourtide a--honestly, I shit you not--Honeybaked Ham shop.

I scoffed at the notion that prisoners were being tortured and killed in Abu Ghraib ... until I saw pictures.

And Haditha? Impossible to believe ... until that, too, was confirmed.

Now, I remain moderate by nature, but even I am starting to wonder why those to my left are getting all this right, while I'm constantly surprised. If anyone deserves the benefit of the doubt, it's wild-eyed lefties.

The massive broadcasting of the massacres of innocent Iraqi civilians--"worse than Abu Ghraib"--and of the ensuing cover-up, will threaten the will to win the Iraq War like nothing else before, because TV diffusion of violent images has the power to neutralize the legitimacy of the US government and its Army.

The military post-Cold War doctrine, post-MAD, is called 'full-spectrum force'. And Bush's wars are so closely linked to the functioning of the mass-media that TV must be considered part of the 'full-spectrum' of military force. On the far end of the spectrum of force is full-scale warfare, including massive invasion and the tactical use of WMDs.

Now my question is: Since TV is part of the full-spectrum force, how will the Military use it to neutralize the disastrous effect of the massacres' images?

Do keep these remarks from "The Note" in mind in a month, and revist them after more information about Haditha and any other tragedies come out.

Wow. I knew The Note was the work product of a bunch of supercilious media nitwits, but I never realized they were a bunch of supercilious NAZI media nitwits.

Looks like the Reich's corporate propaganda apparatus is in safe hands -- not competent ones, of course, but definitely well indoctrinated.

Supercilious media nitwits in charge of political reporting for a major media outlet.

But hey, maybe Charlie Gibson will whip them into shape, eh?

That is the problem with the MSM. They assume everyone are fucking sheep who will believe everything they read, hear, or see.

Most people IMO tend to think about things a little more than the MSM gives us credit for.

Yes people tilt left or tilt right but I know very few people if any at all that believe verbatim what they read or hear from the news.

I know a lot of people that parrot talking points for propaganda purposes, but they don't even believe their own BS.

How do these fools at the note keep getting published is the question. I don't read it regularly, but the excerpts and quotes I see leave me gobsmacked. They certainly seem to be as snotty, arrogant, and wrong-headed as any small-minded ex-GOP staffer who has started an "insider's view" blog.
Once again: Liberal media my ass.

To the 1st anonymous poster here -

Thank you!!!

I have never posted to a blog before, but I am constantly amazed at the lies and deceit coming from the neocons/administration.

I am also what I would consider a moderate democrat, though since this administration has come to power, I have found myself more and more in agreement with the "wild-eyed lefties."

What this makes me realize is that the concept of "wild-eyed lefties" is merely some sort of BS label that has been attached to people who want to know the truth. If the administration/media can label all those who are aware of the deception going on as "wild-eyed lefties", "freaks to my left", "Bush-Bashers", etc, then the mainstream will continue to accept the lies.

I became aware of the lies/deceptions/spin soon after 9/11 as there are many good websites dedicated to unspinning the spin. However, you need to actually seek them out. If you get your information from the MSM (not to even consider Fox News! ;-)), then you will continue to believe that the "wild-eyed lefties" are just radical extremists with no concept of reality!

Unfortunately, really what we need to be concerned about are the "freaks on my right". It's funny, that term sounds strange, because they have convinced everyone that they are the mainstream. "Freaks on the left" seems accepted terminology (probably because we hear it in the MSM one way or another) but saying "freaks on the right" will be condemned as being "shrill". Whatever.

In any case, apologies for being a bit long-winded here, I just realize how ridiculous the whole situation is. I also realize that it is a large task to shift the perception of the mainstream to realize what "anonymous" has finally realized - that these "wild-eyed lefties" are actually the ones who have been honest all along!!

As Mark Twain said, "A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes."
